PRODUCT Name: Ground Nuts


The groundnut belongs to the pea and bean family and is a legume. The groundnut is the only nut that grows below the earth. The groundnut plant is a variable annual herb, which grows upto 50 cm. in height. The flowers of the plant develop a stalk which enters into the soil, forms a pod containing generally two seeds. They become mature in about two months, when the leaves of the plant turn yellow. The plant is then removed from the earth and allowed to dry. After three to six weeks they are separated from the plant.The groundnut is particularly valued for its protein contents, which is of high biological value and it contain more protein than meat-about two and a half times more than eggs, and far more than any other vegetable food except soybean and yeast. Groundnut is grown in nearly 100 countries. India is one of the major exporting country of groundnuts after china.

The main Groundnut varieties produced in India are Kadiri-2, Kadiri-3, BG-1, BG-2, Kuber , GAUG-1, GAUG-10, PG-1 , T-28, T-64, Chandra, Chitra, Kaushal, Parkash, Amber.

Health Benefits :

1:  Groundnuts contain five important nutrients namely food energy, protein, phosphorous, thiamin and niacin. It maintains and repairs body tissues.
2:  Eating fresh roasted groundnuts with jaggery and goat's milk is very nutritious for growing children, pregnant women and nursing mothers. It builds a resistance against all infections, such as Hepatitis and tuberculosis.
3:  Groundnuts contain 13 different vitamins (including Vitamin A, B, C and E) along with 26 essential trace minerals, including calcium and iron.
4:  Groundnuts also contain zinc, good for protecting brain function, and boron, which helps to maintain strong bones.
5:  Ground nuts or groundnut products are useful in the treatment of hemophilia, and inherited blood diseases, which cause hemorrhage. It is also useful in nose bleeding and in cases of excessive bleeding during menstruation in women.
6:  Groundnuts have good dietary fiber content so they are very good for digestion.
7:  Groundnuts are valuable in diabetes. It is also useful in diarrhea, especially chronic diarrhea, which is more frequent immediately after a meal. The patient can use it by drinking goat's milk in which lemon is squeezed with a handful of fresh roasted groundnuts. Diarrhea is usually caused due to nicotinic acid deficiency and groundnuts provide the required quantity of Niacin.
